A two part documentary is set to air on Channel 4 this week, starting at 9pm, Thursday July 19th. It provides an unprecedented glimpse inside HMP Durham, examining the lives and environment of inmates and staff at an archetypal pre-Victorian prison, built in 1810, which today serves as a local prison for youths and adults classed as 'Category B'. HMP Durham has a current working capacity of 996 inmates.

The next episode, focusing on mental health, will be shown at 9pm on Thursday July 26th.
